The story

Jucos by A totes design process

Whilst studying Product Design, I couldn’t find the right laptop bag, so I figured, why not design my own. And so I did!
The bag was perfect! Not just for a laptop and books.
I also used it for weekend trips, for the gym and took it to business meetings. I carried it everywhere and people around me started to notice it. To make sure my bag was not just perfect for me I made a few extra samples for testing.

You can see the first test bags below – 25 first bags, completely sold out!

I partnered up with Louise who is a passionate business mentor. She helped me structure my business plan and make sure my idea and design were sustainable. After getting positive feedback and finding a local manufacturer for my very first production, I decided to produce a small batch of 25 Jucos tote bags in October 2016. The response was incredible! I completely sold out. It was the first big step for me and my bag, and I felt so proud and grateful.

The positive feedback inspired me. With the desire and ambitions to make my company grow, I started to sketch and design new bags. Finding a manufacturer in Denmark at an affordable price was difficult. So I started to search after manufactures in EU.

I was lucky to find a factory in Italy with years of experience in the leather industry. The owner and I discussed the specifications, design, quantity, quality of the leather, logo etc. After weeks of preparation, scrutinizing the details for my designs, we agreed to make a few prototypes. I was so exited to see the result. It turned out there was still room for improvement, so I decided to have another set of prototypes after making a few adjustments and refining design details. I wanted to make sure the bags were exactly as I imagined. Now, the bags are here and ready for you to buy.
